Revolution of the Super-Hero Name

Obviously any writer who specializes in the super-hero genre will be plagued by one simple question. What's a good name? Obviously it depends on your preference. Many love the gritty name of The Punisher, but seem may think it is to bland. However, it fits. The man punishes criminals. Others may prefer names that have something to do with the character's history. Such as Deadpool, whose name is drawn from those a bet made by a scientist about who would die. (Get it? Dead Pool?)

In the Golden Age of comic books names were corny, such as Mister Fantastic, Thing, and even Captain America. But, the status of these icons are so great that we can easily overlook these names. It is much more difficult for newer heroes to gain the credit and publicity they need now-a-days. Which makes it hard for us amateurs to name our own heroes. One can go for the corny approach (such as Captain Freedom or Magnificent Man...yes I just made those up as far as I know) Or they could go for the bland approach such as (Death or Stalker...I think there are two characters in Marvel known as this...but I'm not sure)

Personally I find a mix of these to provide the best results which means I present you a sneak peak to my own novel cast:

Blue Sentry: The main character of the series who is reminiscent of Superman. However, he is not as strong due to the pitfalls of having such a hero. (It's hard to make him feel in danger, which is why Superman isn't that cool IMHO.)

Liberty's Flame: A character who is sort of a fusion of Iron Man and Captain America. However, he has the power to shoot flames from his hands. The only problem is that it burns his skin, making him build a special suit/costume which can take the pressure of this. He is also filthy rich and a marketing genius, becoming a super-hero only to further his wealth. Oh and to help people to.

Quickstrike: A perfect shot, similar to Hawkeye, well the Ultimate version anyway.

Dr. A: One of the smartest men on Earth and to top it all off, he's a super-hero. He possesses super-strength and durability. Also he's super-intelligent. Think Reed Richards and Doc Sampson rolled in one.

More to come later, especially several more characters.

The Heroics

The Heroics is a book that I am struggling to write. It is mainly a thriller/drama about super-heroes. I like to think of it as very different from the typical super-hero genre, which means this is sort of similar to Watchmen. I like to delve into political, relegious, and the mind itself in my writing. I try to develop my characters like real life people and give them flaws and fears like everyday people. Basically this is super-heroes who are regular joes, which I think is very interesting. Anyways this blog is about me struggling to complete my novel and even get published.

Please leave comments and criticism. It will be you readers who will most certainly help me get this published. I am begging you for help. Anyway, I will see you guys later. Please check for impending updates.
